About
Helena Honar is an Iranian designer who lives and works in Los Angeles alongside her daughter, Lilliana Ammann. Although her brand was founded in 2025, Honar’s work has been over 35 years in the making. Her first show took place in Tehran in 1989. From 1995 to 1998, she lived in New York, where she studied fashion design at FIT and briefly worked for George Simonton and Isabel Toledo. Since then, she has lived across five countries and three continents, building an extensive collection of antiquities and fabrics.
Helena Honar’s work is centred around the tactile and spiritual life of textiles. The stories held within their weaves, embroideries, and hand-dyed and hand-printed surfaces, many of which have lived lives of their own.
In January 2025, the Palisades Fire destroyed her life’s work, including her collection, designs, atelier, and home. Shortly after, she founded her eponymous brand.
Expertise
Helena Honar’s private collection of vintage and antique fabrics is at the heart of her design process. Each creation begins with the fabric itself — its character, history, weight, and drape — and is then individually tailored around its unique qualities.
The rarity of these fabrics makes every piece inherently one of a kind. Each design is created according to the material available, with quantities and possibilities naturally defined by the limits of each original bolt.
Her debut collection ‘rooted but not still’ is available upon request and any other inquiries for bespoke consultation can be made by appointment.
